VISION
Elena has always been passionate about languages and foreign cultures; she’s an avid reader and has a soft spot for words and the different nuances in their meanings.
A quest for excellence and an almost obsessive attention to detail have been the guiding principles in her professional life, both of which are evidenced in the outstanding quality of her work.,
EDUCATION
She attended Michael Ham Memorial College, where she got her General Certificate of Education (University of Cambridge) and in 1974 when she left school, she entered the Instituto Superior en Lenguas Vivas, Juan Ramón Fernández, where she took the Translators course. In 1978 she graduated as a Literary, Technical and Scientific Translator.
Over the years she has furthered her education, both in English and Spanish. In 1987 she was sent by Cinzano, the firm she was working for at the time, to take up an intensive course in business English at The Cambridge Centre for Advanced English, located in the city of Cambridge, England. In 1991 she received her Certificate of Proficiency in English (University of Cambridge).
She’s an active member of the Asociación Argentina de Traductores e Intérpretes (AATI) and regularly attends conferences, seminars and courses, both in English and Spanish, organized by AATI and also by other institutions such as the Fundación Litterae presided over by Dr. Alicia María Zorrilla and the English & American Literature & Language workshop run by Mr. Alfredo Jaeger, MSc in ELT.
She loves languages and travelling and has been able to learn and explore different cultures. She has also studied Italian at Dante Alighieri Buenos Aires, achieving a good level of communication. She is currently studying German (B2 level European Standard) at the Goethe Institut in Buenos Aires.
WORKING EXPERIENCE
Elena started her working life in various first class national and international companies, such as Cerámica San Lorenzo, Cinzano and Adams, where she held different Executive Assistant posts working for General Managers and Presidents.
She has dedicated over 18 years to working within these companies where, in addition to carrying out the usual tasks of an Executive Assistant, she has also sharpened her skills as a translator and interpreter.
During that time, she has acquired ample experience and developed excellent organizational skills which she has since decided to apply in a new approach to her professional life.
Nowadays, she works on a freelance basis providing linguistic services, such as translation, proofreading and virtual executive assistance for her portfolio of clients.
